The Council is mindful that the high number and density of premises selling alcohol for consumption within the Ilford town centre are causing problems of crime and nuisance disturbance. To curtail this, we are proposing a special cumulative impact policy and seek your views on whether such an area is warranted and justified in the town centre. I think its a brilliant idea - to make alcohol outlets responsible for antisocial behaviour that arises from their being - what a shame we cannot do the same with takeaways and the resultant litter and anti social behaviour.

This is indeed A good idea, there has been alcohol related problems in the precinct for some time, I can remember on one occasion turning out of the precinct into Hainault Street, and coming in contact with a chap who had a bloody face caused by someone shoving a broken bottle at him, he was being attended to by a Policeman aided only with a toilet roll, I spoke with the Policeman afterwards and in answer to my shocked reaction was told this is a common occurrence, and indeed I witnessed this on more than one occasion, as I used attend Council Meetings which then ran very late, the main problem seemed to come from the club at the top of the old Harrison & Gibson building. Alcohol is so easily available these days everyone seems to sell it, in the days before supermarkets you had to go to a Off Licence or maybe a pub it wasn't that easily accessible, I feel that perhaps supermarkets should either stop selling it or reduce the amount of quantity that is sold to individual customers.
