Have your say on plans to improve Redbridge health services.

The Health for north east London consultation gives you a chance to comment on plans put together by health professionals, which include:

1. Improving access to health care by bringing some services closer to home.

2. Centralising some services, where necessary, to ensure you see specialist staff.

3. Improving Accident and Emergency (A&E), maternity and children’s services across north east London so you see the right person, at the right place at the right time.

4. Remodelling King George Hospital to become a centre of excellence for urgent care and planned care services.

The consultation is being led by the primary care trusts (PCTs) in north east London; NHS Barking & Dagenham; NHS City & Hackney; NHS Havering; NHS Newham; NHS Redbridge; NHS Tower Hamlets and NHS Waltham Forest. All responses to the consultation are being collated by IPSOS Mori and the PCTs will make a decision on the proposed changes in the middle of 2010.

The consultation has been extended and will now run for 16 weeks ending on Monday 22 March 2010.

"NHS Travel Time Analysis - The King George Option - 25th November 2009"

Public transport travel times to nearest A and E if King George Hospital has a UCS and people have to travel to the nearest hospital with an A & E.

Aldborough ward journey time to the nearest A & E would be 71.2 minutes, compared with current times of 34.8 minutes (36.39 mins difference)
Seven Kings ward journey time to the nearest A & E would be 46.9 minutes compared with current times of 24.6 minutes (22.26 mins difference)
Note 1: states that "The centre of Aldborough Ward is undeveloped land"

Redbridge ward statistics 2001 population. Area Census 29th April 2001.
Aldborough ward population: 11611
Seven Kings ward population: 11910

We all know that the population of Redbridge is increasing, which will also include Aldborough ward.

Private transport travel times of between 20 and 30 minutes.
Currently there are 8 wards and there will be 9 wards taking 20 to 30 minutes to nearest A and E if King George Hospital has a UCS and people have to travel to the nearest hospital with an A & E.

London Ambulance travel times
Average increase of 4.1 minutes.
Maximum impact would be 19 minutes.

I wouldn't like to be travelling in an ambulance for anywhere between 4 and 19 minutes longer than I would currently!
