Had it been castrated as you recommended in the deleted post?

Mr Hickey - you seem to have an unnatural interest my dead dogs equipment for some reason or
am I missing something here. So far as I know my Labrador had all his parts intact when he
died. However his brother did not as he was prone to give cushions a lot of loving.

Quite wrong, Mrs Bradley - as usual. It was you who introduced the particular matter in the post that Redimanager (with her customary inconsistency) deleted.

Back on topic...

I know the culprits in my garden are cats, as I've seen 'em do it! (I was just too slow to get out there with the hosepipe to let them know I didn't appreciate it)

And I must have really lazy cats in my area because they can rarely be bothered to cover it up - although as a gardener, I must say I'd rather know it was there before I picked it up with my weeds...!

What would happen if we posted the following: 'Comment deleted by Redimanager'?
Jackiel however has definitively a point. Apparently an efficient solution is to have a cat yourself (a well-trained cat, obviously).
Cats will not tolerate invasion of their space.
Unfortunately, cats do not have the slightest interest in rats. So no point in me getting a cat!

The human animals are the worst. My wife, who has been housebound all winter following an accident, was quite cheered by the spring display of daffodils in our front garden. Until this morning when we discovered that some idiot had helped themselves to them. No wonder most front gardens are now nothing but tarmac - there is no point to trying to do anything else that might brighten up the neighbourhood.

This is so sad.
I hope pseudolus will think of something to make his wife happier as soon as possible (and him, as well). The consequences of being upset are not good, especially when already not feeling well.
I hope that something really nice will happen to make her feel better.
At the allotments, we are constantly faced with waves of mindless vandalism and destruction of crops and equipment. When the phone goes in the morning, I cross my fingers that it is not more sad news of overnight destruction. However, my worse fear when this happens is that the people who were vandalised will give up. Mostly they don't before the vandals or thieves should not win.
A point to keep in mind that the vandals did not target you. They just showed how selfish and bitter they are.

Thank you for your supportive comments, Anne. I have tried to cheer up my wife, even though this happened on the day before her birthday.
The infuriating thing is this was not an impulsive act of vandalism. The stems of the daffodils were carefully cut, not pulled up, so that they were all the same length. Seems planned to me. The thieves were kind enough to leave us a couple of daffodils - perhaps they thought we wouldn't notice the other dozen were missing.

Back to the topic.

I walk my well-trained friendly dog mostly in Claybury Park. He is always off his lead and has been trained to ignore other dogs and responds to attention by good-natured tail wagging. He chases a ball and will do this until I tire of throwing it for him. I always pick up after him and always know when he will "Do his business" as he has been trained to do so when he is let off his lead.

Did you notice the amount of times I used the word "Trained"? It's wonderful how quickly dogs respond to training and how easy it is to train them. If the selfish owners invested a little bit of time and patience to the up-bringing of their dogs they would be rewarded by having a true friend and companion that other park users would not fear or be inconvenienced by.

The council should spend some of our money on providing affordable obedience classes and a free microchipping scheme like some of the other London Boroughs. They should also take some action against the irresponsible owners instead of considering blunt-tool legislation that throws the baby out with the bath water.

I live near westwood recreation ground and seven kings park, I'm feed up of inconsiderate dog owners, not cleaning up after their dogs and allowing their dogs to run through the park without leads, a few months ago a local child sufferred dog bites to her head, I'm in favor if anything that will make dog owners more responsible, but without proper enforcement all the legislation in the world wo'nt make a difference, especially with the yob attack dog fashion acessories roaming our parks.

Very good reason, sevenking, why you should register now opposition to the council's plans to disband the effective and efficient Parks Police.

Ann, Ask us nicely and we'll lend you two of our cats. They seem to love catching the little and not so little bleeders that seem to love feeding on the waste from the fast food shops behind us that don't seem to want to have commercial waste bins and insist on using only black sacks. Not a pretty sight to wake up to, left on the kitchen floor I can tell you. P/Terr staff were not impressed when they looked in the bag last week and said "what are these" and got the reply "well I don't think they're parrots"

The thread was originally about plans for making dog control orders. I can think of at least one old dog around here whose control I should like to order.

Well, chippyweed, I should not have generalised my conclusions about my one visitor cat not bothering about our rats! ( We did resort to traps hidden where birds and hedgehogs don't go and it works!)
Maybe you could offer to loan your valiant two cats to 10 Downing Street because, according to the Press, their recently acquired useless moggy cannot even catch mice!

I understand that said moggy goes berserk when there's a cabinet meeting convinced that there are rats in the house.
