Didn't the coop take over Somerfield, if so it might be that they have to sell some stores. Shame if so, quite like Somerfield now and again.

Is this the large Somerfield in Barkingside High street ? The branch in Ilford has been closed for some time now and I don't know what is due to take its place, although a Tesco express has recently opened a few doors down, as well as a small Lidl further along. I'd guess maybe one of those two may take over your branch possibly.

Have I missed something here? Is there a for sale sign up or something? Confusingly the first post is dated 20/7/07!
Yes Charlotte, the co-op did buy out Somerfield so there is a chance that with the co-op on Fencepiece Road and the Somerfield on the High Street one may go, but I hope not. I like them both, but I shop more in the co-op - it's close to me, the staff are really friendly and it sells most of what I need.
What I want to know more though is what will happen with Boots Opticians taking over D&A? Will one of those go?

There's another food chain whose presence on the Somerfield site could revitalise the northern end of the High Street.

Which one are you referring to? M&S or Waitrose would be nice but I can't see there being enough trade for them, Tesco are already here. Do you mean the likes of Lidl...there is private parking for them after all.
(Apologies for the protracted reply, I tend to only hop on here every few weeks, but I'll try to do better.)
