Thousands of people are expected to fill Ilford Town Hall for the sixth annual Redbridge Jobs and Training Fair on 16 September from 10 am to 4 pm.
Residents will flock from across the Borough to explore new job opportunities or to brush up on their current job skills.
Around 6,884 people are claiming Job Seeker Allowance in our Borough but in spite of the slow economic recovery jobs are available. What you may not know is how much help is available. There will be over 30 businesses, advice and training agencies at the event, providing information, advice and guidance about job vacancies, training opportunities and support with finding employment.
The event, sponsored by the Ilford Recorder, has proved popular with residents in the past with many saying it gave them new ideas about what careers to pursue and how to improve their skills.
People who found jobs after attending last year's event.
Amanda Wright, found a job through last year’s Redbridge Jobs and Training Fair. She said “I’m a single parent and I was looking for care work to get back into employment and to still be able to spend time with my child. I obtained employment at Homecare and Domestic Services where I have now achieved my NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.”
The trick is to make yourself as visible to employers as possible by attending the Fair so that you can get all the help you need - in one place at one time.
Daniel White, also gained employment through the event. He said “I got a job working as an administrator at Barnabas Workshops in Ilford, which enabled me to develop and improve my skills. If you are looking for a job, head to the Jobs and Training Fair - what have you got to lose?”
