I've just noticed the announcement on the home page that the I-Foundation have won the bid to build a new school on this site.
It will be a voluntary aided Hindu primary school.

"The OSA was very complimentary........on the basis of 'choice and diversity'.....".
In other words, the Council's proposal was doomed from the outset.

The announcement on the Redbridge website that the I Foundation has won the bid for Primary School placement has been best news I have heard. I like many parents with young children whom would like to send their child to a excellent reputable primary school, this news could not of been better. The importance to me as a parent is not that the I Foundation is a Hindu faith school but what the school has to offer my my child academically and help develop/support them at their young age. I would base this on academic results, what the vision of the school is has going forward in my childs early development. With excellent academic results with Ofsted Report Good/Outstanding (Krishna Avanti School- Harrow March 2010) and being awarded the most Eco-friendly school in the UK. All highlight the value for tax payers money in sending their child to a excellent well balanced school that delivers results. They also meet the vision that I have as a parent which is:- 1) Academic Achievement 2) Character Formation 3) Healthy Mind and Body 4) Wholesome Sense of Identity 5) Social and Community Cohesion 6) Environmental Responsibilty
All above form the platform for my child to become socially cohesive in the community and integrate in the diverse communities we live in. I believe the primary school will be a great asset to Redbridge Council and see the greater benefits to children whom will be going their, rather than being negative on that fact it is a Faith school.

Very commendable reasons for chosing a particular school for your child, but as this school hasn't even opened yet it obviously doesn't have a reputation, good or otherwise!

No school is open on site yet, so the same can be said with any school proposal in terms of reputation and status. So does that mean as being a taxpayer you do not look at what the proposers have to offer and waste taxpayers money in just building a primary school for the sake of it. You can only pass judgement on what the proposers have to offer which is what I have done, based on research (performance of other affiliate schools that I Foundation has and its ethos). Looking at the I Foundation they would of had a very strong case to WIN this proposal and would of have to have a good reputation. The Redbridge Council are more wiser than that and they would have looked at the all the proposals with great detail/time and have evaluated their conclusions based on facts not myth, keeping the child at the centre of this debate. No resident in Redbridge or the Council would want a primary school that would bring bad repuation or be bad for the area.

I did not realise that Redbridge Council had any input in the final choice of a school on the site. I thought they simply facilitated the promotion of any bid including theirs. I understand that the Council still has to buy the site and I jump to the conclusion that the site is not going to be put on the open market. Has this any implications for the price? Who is going to get the money? It would be interesting to know what leasing agreements will be made and if rent will be paid to the Council. And why must the Council buy land for a non-council school? (Clore Tikva bought their land and paid for the building using a mortgage and they do cater for pupils of all persuasions.) Could the redimanager ask somebody to clarify all this and not leave it to contributors who use a pseudo and we have not idea who they are, so perhaps they are just guessing.

The Council is in discussion to purchase the site from the trustees who own the IJPS site. The Council is currently agreeing terms with them and with the providers of the proposed new school site for IJPS. The new school site provision has to be secured before the Council will purchase the existing site.
The Council wanted to establish a new 4 form of entry primary school on the site, once acquired. To do that, it had to run a competition: the Council applied to be the operator of the school, as did the I-Foundation and the Al-Noor Foundation. The legislation that governs the creation of new schools obliges the Council to provide the site and funding for the new school to whoever is chosen to run it.
In this case, the Schools Adjudicator determined that the I-Foundation would be the operator of the new school, subject to site acquisition and planning permission.
The Council has a duty to provide sufficient school places. The purchase of the land will facilitate a local school for local children.
