In light of recent events, can we have a Scrutiny examining whether the public should be able to view councillor interests and make all candidates undertake a CRB check before they stand?

I've never seen my councillors and have no idea what they stand for and what they are like. As they can't meet everyone they represent shouldn't the voters have access to some personal information so we can make an informed choice.

I'm sure those who voted for a certain councillor wouldn't have had they known he could potentially harm children.

Councillors' interests within the legal definitions are recorded and available on-line.

Our Councillors in Valentines Ward go out on street surgeries with their local SNTeams and run a drop in
surgery - so they are contactable in the event of problems, all three also attend the Area Committee meetings regularly. If the ward that numchuk lives in doesnt enjoy events similar to these with his
Councillors perhaps he should ask why and respond accordingly at the next election.
