I agree entirely Sappy.

In September 2007 the Deputy Leader of the Council, Councillor Mrs Linda Huggett, introduced a proposal for regeneration of the High Street. There was an estimated cost of £50,000 for a consultation and the inevitable consultants to carry it out. More than 18 months later the cash has still not been allocated, and no work has been done.

BRING BACK LIFE TO BARKINGSIDE HIGH STREET.

Is it me or is it busier these days?

At first I was appalled at just how many small food shops have opened in a short time. With Somerfield, Tesco, Sainsburys, Costcutter and Veena's on the doorstep I can't help wondering how many will survive. It's great for us customers though, with such heavy competition any poor performing shops would soon be weeded out. Presumably the retail classification of shops can be of any goods, so Planning wouldn't be in a position to mention to any new applicants that they have just had six other business apply for the same street selling the same goods so maybe they may need to look at another location.

In the meantime, more people on the high street equals more pennies in the shops - I hope!

I wonder what the next retail fad will be?
