All:

I was informed that the waiting list in Redbridge is very lengthy for my kids aged 7, 3 and 2 in schools surrounding the Coventry, Colombo and Auckland roads in contracts to other neighbouring boroughs.

Please advice or comment on anyone's experience moving to Redbridge with young kids and not being able to get a place within the catchment area and how long did you have to wait for a school placement!

Is it not better to investigate before actually moving?

Well Chirstchurch is explanding to five forms of entry from next year, so there will be a slight improvement. But there is a massive school place crisis in Valentines Ward. Many parents in those roads mentioned will not get into Chirstchurch and will be offered Ray Lodge or Coppice in Woodford and Hainault. We desperately need more school places in the borough.

Welcome to this forum Cllr Hatfull.

Could Redimanger please tell us how many of our 63 Councillors have contributed to this forum, and how often, over the 5-6 years it has been operational?

It would appear to be no more than 5 - Cllr Moth, Cllr Cleaver, and Cllr Bond, plus 'ndh' and Ross Hatfull, neither of whom acknowldges on this blog being a councillor. In the period concerned some 80 people have been councillors in Redbridge, So just 6.25% of them feel it appropriate to engage with the public.

Roll on 1 May 2014.

Is it any wonder that there is a shortage of school places in the Ilford area, given the amount of dwellings (mostly blocks of flats) that have been built and will probably continue to be built?

Just wait until Pioneer Point is full of families with children .... where will they be educated?

We will have to take a leaf out of China's book and limit families to one child each!

Perhaps taxpayers could reclaim the original training costs spent (wasted?) on councillors training them on how to use Redbridge I there is certainly little evidence, that either councillors or officers have any intention or inclination to answer ANY questions raised.

May be the council needs to build more school and expand the existing one to support the growth and give priority to working family where both parents work and those who have time can drop their children to far schools as they would have a lot of time in their hands for school runs!
