Valentines Mansion reopens on Tuesday 24 January offering residents the perfect opportunity to explore the historical building.
The Mansion has been closed while routine maintenance works takes place. From Tuesday 24 January, it will be open to the public as normal on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 5pm and Sundays from 11am to 4pm.
Visitors can explore the Victorian kitchen and Georgian bedchamber, which have been recreated to reflect what they looked like during those times. There is also a family room with interactive activities including a touch screen computer, miniature doll's house and costumes for children to use.
Family activities
Young nature lovers can also explore the Mansion's gardens and Valentines Park with special nature backpacks. Families can take part in a bug and plant hunt, a bat quiz, bird watching or a garden trail. It is one of three activity backpacks the Mansion offers to help families make the most of their visit.
The Gardener's Cottage, in the Mansion Gardens, is also open offering lunch, tea and coffees seven days a week from 10 am to 4 pm.
Exhibition
The next exhibition being held at the Mansion is by Redbridge Museum. It looks at a project inspired by a Mozart opera and the Mansion's historic gardens. It begins Tuesday 7 February and runs until 13 May.
Other events coming up include a talk about Valence House, the only surviving manor house in Dagenham, on Wednesday 1 February and puppet storytelling, to mark National Storytelling Week, on Sunday 5 February.
