It would appear that it is not only the London Borough Councils which are being had over. The animal welfare charities are having to put their hands in their pockets to fund the met specialist crime units, as they don't have the funding themselves. http://www.bbc.co.uk/new...-england-london-16782892

By the way Chippyweed - when the new Police lot came into the parks, we were assured that there was at least one officer that had done the course pertaining to wildlife - do you know if this has proved true? We are told the new teams have proved their worth with successes what do the general public think?

NOPE, Julie it hasn't proved true, they called us for an injured fox in Barkingside Rec about 5 weeks ago.

Council Parks Police were proud of what they achieved and weren't afraid to advertise it.

Council Parks Police were proud of what they achieved and weren't afraid to advertise it. Official Secrets Act??? Funnily enough I did have sight of a Draft Redridge Community Team " Monthly" Newsletter dated 6th December 2011 which was awaiting "council sanction". I have not seen it published nor have I seen anything since. newsletter wrote:TEAM RESULTS FOR NOVEMBER
We have been policing the boroughs parks and open spaces in partnership with the local authority and have assisted the ASB and Licensing team in several proactive operations.
During the month of November we have made 9 arrests for such offences as Theft, Indecent Exposure, Possession of a Knife, Drink-Drive, Prostitution, Kerb Crawling and Possession of Drugs.
We have also issued 30 Cannabis Warnings and have issued a further 16 Fixed Penalty Notices (£50.00 / £80.00) for Drug Possession, Fly-Tipping and numerous Public Order Offences. We have also stopped and searched 315 people.
This newsletter / update sheet will be produced every month in order to provide you with an insight into the team’s performance and inform you of any significant stories. It would appear that in some service areas here in the wonderful borough of Redbridge that actually telling your customers what you are doing is not a function of the job ?
