After all, if we pay only for what we use, would you really like to have your sewage measured to the last ounce in order to calculate your waste water rates ???? Having said this, 4 children may well be an unsustainable number for the planet if many more choose to have so many. There are many points to debate, but a simplistic approach will not work I'm afraid.

strange you should pick waste water as i have chosen to have my water metered and as a result my sewerage charge is calculated on the amount of water i actually use. whereas my neighbour can consume and waste as much as they like because they are not paying for what they actually use but what someone has decided is what a house of their size would normally use on average.
"it may well be that the taxes of these 4 children will be used for your healthcare."

that's of course assuming that they'll be paying taxes.

"Having said this, 4 children may well be an unsustainable number for the planet if many more choose to have so many."

something that china realised some time ago and is addressing the situation with it's 1 child policy.

"As a society we pay not for those services we use, but for the provision of such services for those who need them"

and that's where the problem lies, it is open to abuse by those who are not willing to take responsibility for their actions.

Will we be given a date for the last posting day of the paper version of 'You Choose'?
It cannot be that far away, so tell us please, you know what we are, leaving things to the last minute!

Dear annesevant,
The closing date for 'You Choose' is the 31st July. So all paper submissions need to be in by 5pm that day.
Kind regards
Redimanager

The information might have been updated but it is still wrong. I cannot agree publicly that the allotments information is correct. It is not. I am pursuing the matter through the usual route: the Council Officials in charge and the relevant Cllrs. Ido know that you have to allow some time before you get a response.

Dear redimanager,
Thank you for publishing the quoted post above.
You might have decided not to publish, giving the impression that my silence was agreeing that the allotment section of 'You Choose' is now accurate.
You did not and this is very much appreciated.

Having too much time on my hands, I decided to check again, just in case!
Well, two of the four errors, the ones I am able to spot, because I am not omniscient, have been corrected.
So, thank you for that.
That leaves two left, both being relevant to our cause.
One should be checkable easily by carefully reading documents, the other is due to unsatisfactory statistics and will be more challenging to find.

of course alexion, a reason your SCIENCE FACILITIES are lacking investment could be down to the fact that Wanstead High School is as it says on it's website:

"... a Specialist College in the PERFORMING ARTS, which ensures that we have additional funding to develop the curriculum, and enrichment activities for all students and within the local community."

Thats an intresting post.
But I`ve have some facts from our SLT (Senior Leadership Team)
The preforming arts status means we have good facilites for music and drama, so we get allocated more money.
So that doesn`t really have anything to do with it.
Also people saying Wanstead High are too blame, not really.
They don`t have money on tap, you see they have bearly enough to make repairs.
Because lots of money is going into general rubbish we don`t need.

Thomas, you seem to be able to communicate with your SLT, why not ask them why the money is being spent on what you think is rubbish, hopefully they will either think twice about it, or explain the long-term benefits of what may seem in the short term to be rubbish.

I have taken the liberty of cleaning up the quote, sorry if that offends.

The Chinese solution may have been harsh, but is it working ? I think only time will tell, but something needs to be done.

I most heartily agree with your second point above, the many people who abuse the welfare system are a drain on the resources of those who wish to work, and want to contribute to society, but I can't think of a simple solution to weed out the dross. The government seems to be trying a "work for the community or don't get any benefits" approach, perhaps we have to wait to see if this has any impact.

Sorry don`t know why I said they were rubbish :)
But some things are excessive, for example.
I do technical theatre, lighting e.t.c at wanstead.
We`ve just got a new 6k lighting desk?
Now was that really needed?
It seems there isn`t enough charis, no why not get more chairs?
