Redbridge Conversation was a huge success, according to the independent company that analysed the results. YouGov, the leading online polling organisation, described the response as "extremely good" and said it pointed the way to "a new breed of citizen consultation."

This taken from the recent article about a new pool/leisure centre. Now am I an old cynic or would an "independent" company who presumably would like more similar work, not say it had been a success, possibly they would like other boroughs to commission a similar survey. I'm not saying that the conversation wasn't useful, but I'm just proposing a discussion of what people think it may have highlighted.

What is even more ridiculous is that 'they' made this consultation so sacrebleu complicated that they needed an agency to analyse 5000 responses when a properly prepared consultation could have been inputed directly in a pre-programmed computer.
We are expecting FOI figures regarding the actual budget of the exercise. I hope it will be itemised!

ps: because I have included some French, I could be censured. Can I mention that sacrebleu is not used by the French it's way too old-fashioned. So, technically, it has become English.

I thought YouGov had to scrape around a bit to find a positive spin - I don't think they tried to claim that it was a statistically valid exercise, or that the systems of data collection were not open to abuse.
