The Area 3 Committee has agreed in principle to provide funding for 30 mph road signs in Longwood Gardens. Residents had expressed concern at the risk of accidents in Longwood Gardens caused by cars speeding, particularly near Greenleaf Drive.
The Committee agreed there was a need for the benches in Barkingside High Street to be checked and repaired where necessary. A request has been put forward asking officers for this work to be carried out.
Any remaining funds from the year 2007/2008 from the Area Committee budget will be given to tree planting in 2009. The Committee will advise officers where they would like the trees planted within each ward.

These snap shots are a good idea, I suppose, but anybody who is not actually attending an area meeting could wonder if nine councillors and several council officers are necessary to decide about speed limit panels (which are very needed indeed because of the miniroundabouts which a lot of irate drivers don't understand). That wooden benches should be maintained, is pretty obvious, and why councillors should have to point it out is beyond comprehension. Now, if I had been asked to give snap shots of that Area 3 meeting, my choice of 'pictures' would have been very different! :) The Ilford Recorder did an excellent report with many more details. Well done reporter. annesevant
