The ramp connecting the forcourt of my hose to the road is in a state of disrepair. This appears to common in Area 7. I suggest repairing the ramps and thereby improving the appearance of our properties.

if the ramp that you are talking about is the footpath crossing for a vehicle(eg your car) surely you should pay for the repair(unless you can prove that the original construction was not fit for purpose).

One presumes that the disrepair of the ramp is mainly due to Andrews own vehicles causing the damage, it hardly likely to be pedestrians, this has to be a classic case of "The Polluter Pays" the council may do the work but should not pay for it,sorry you are not getting much sympathy.

This may not be the case - it depends how long it is since the dropped kerb was installed.

The dropped kerb is constructed by (or on behalf of) the council but, remember, it is the resident who pays for it.

They used to be of solid concrete construction - very durable and hard wearing. Then the council adopted an approach to highway resurfacing that involved jacking up the height of the footway, rather than skimming off all of the old road surface.

When this was done, all the concreted runways were broken up and replaced by tarmac which, I would suggest - based on visual inspection, is not as durable or hard wearing as the original surface for which the resident had already paid!

If, in Andrew's case, the runway was originally concrete and has since been replaced by the council with an inferior product, surely the council must accept responsibility?
