The Council has sent out a questionair about road safety measurers they are carrying out arround Trinity & St Antony's Catholic schools at no time have they approached the resients for there opinion.

They have asked us to complete 7 questions by 23rd march 2009.

The traffic problems are created by the Parents taking children to and from school by car very few children live within walking distance of the schools.

The residents of these roads Sunset,Mornington.Sidney have to put up with cars parked all day in the streets you can not get out of the roads from 8 to 9 & 3 to 5
as parents constantly park in these roads picking and droping children off.

The school now alows students to drive to school and they park all day and speedabout during lunch times.

I'm puzzled by this as it doesn't seem to make sense.

You say that residents have not been approached so, presumably, this questionnaire has been sent to non residents and, as you have obviously received one, you must be a non resident!

On the other hand, if this questionnaire has been sent to the residents, I would suggest that it is an attempt by the council to canvas their opinion on the matter.

Which is it? It would help to stimulate useful discussion if we had the correct set of facts to start with.

Why haven't they sent out anthing about St Augustine's Primary School? Loudoun Avenue, Veronique Gardens and even Pershore Close are hell for drivers at school start and finish times, with abandoned cars everywhere. Couldn't the council put some kind of traffic monitering scheme in place for two weeks [one in term time and one during the holidays] to see exactly how much traffic there is? That would be more scientific than a questionare.

Gearies school is also bad, alas Waremede, Gaysham Ave and Gants Hill Crescent have not received one either. Were these questionnaires sent in Redbridge Life??

Not just the Comprehensives, but ALL schools, one hopes.

Seriously, there is going to be an accident if shcools and parents do not work together to solve the problems of "dropping-off" parking.

Whether it should be the school that surveys habits or the council, I know not.

One might be excused for thinking that , keeping people ineffectively employed is exactly what we dont want at ehe moment, Barnet having decided to get rid of humps etc, managed to dispense with the services of 4 traffic planning officers, which probably made up for the loss of tfl money.
